I am writing this letter to say "Thank you". You are an inspiration to all women (and men) who wish to live a healthy lifestyle and if desired to get on stage in a tiny bikini.
Back in Aug 2009 I met you at an ANB 'Get the edge' workshop in Canberra. At that workshop I met some beautiful people - one of which I have supported through their preparation for competition over the past two years. Through my new support networks and with the love and support of my family and friends, I now have the courage, desire and refreshingly positive attitude to get back on stage. My journey officially started 4 weeks ago, however, unofficially it began with your workshop in 2009.
I have been able to keep up to date with the bodybuilding world/family/team through your website and of course through the Oxygen Australia magazine. I can't tell you enough how appreciative I am to have met you and to feel a part of the world of bodybuilding through Oxygen. (without all the vein popping men you come across in similar mags. Each to their own :-) )
My mind set is not on winning, it's about preparing myself physically, mentally, emotionally and nutritionally to the best of my ability to feel fantastic on stage on the day. I feel truly proud and worthy to prepare for competition in September (INBA Canberra) this year. Please know that I feel no more special than every other brave, courageous, strong and determined woman who sets off on the journey of 'getting to the stage'.
I have made the journey to stage before, back in Sept 2008. It was harder than I thought and I didn't really understand what I was doing. However, I had a fantastic trainer who assisted me every step of the way and I got there. My photo of me on stage is attached. As you can see I look a little snooty, please understand I was very nervous and proud at the same time. I came third out of 4 fantastic women that day. I've never felt so nervous, exhillarated and emotional in my life. Also, as you can see I have a lot of work ahead of me, both physically with training and posing and nutritionally with shaving off body fat. My training and lifestyle afterwards was a nightmare and this will be a strong focus for me this time. This is where I will utilise my support networks to help guide me through the tranisition phase of post-competition - Oxygen subscription here I come!
This time round I feel focused and in control. eg. I'm asking questions about my training and why I'm doing certain exercises and why I am to take specific supplements. This is where your advice from the workshop, Oxygen magazine and website has given me the confidence to do this. I feel mentally strong and determined. I'm under no illusions that it will be a walk in the park this time. It will be a life altering experience, one of whichI intend to maintain and become a part of permanently.
I think you are an amazing person and ambassador for the sport of female bodybuilding and for the health & fitness of women in Australia.
( I hope I'm not coming across like a stalker :-) )
Thank you for providing myself and everyone else, with a quality magazine and fantastic opportunities, insight & information to be the best we can.
Yours in Health & Fitness,
