Does anyone know where I can buy raw nut butter, preferably Cashew or Almond? I'm in Sydney and seem to have hunted just about every where that I can think of. The nut butters that I have found all seem to be roasted. Any ideas would be great.

 Hi Vicki,

I've heard some organic/health stores have processors that they do the nut butter up for you right then and there. You select your nuts and they run it through the processor. I'm not sure who might do it where you are, so it may take a bit of investigation to find some.

However, if you have a good processor, you can make your own at home.

I make my own.  YOu can google nut butter recipes - It takes a little while but for the nuts to process thorugh and start releasing their oils so that you get that consistency.  YOu also havve to add oils to it - I have been making almond butter.  Just skinned almonds and light olive oil.  If you use extra virgin it impinges on the tast of the almonds.

But pretty much you just need a decent foodprocessor

I make my own too, but not raw.
I place my nuts on a tray and toast them in the oven until they start releasing a bit of their natural oil and get a little soft (and smell great).
I then put them in my Sunbean Stickmaster Pro and whiz them forever. I use the stickmaster over my larger food processor as I find it does a finer job without adding any extra oil.

Cheers
