Hey, I just noticed a lot of soy in your diet. I have three children myself and also into training and healthy eating. I have done a lot of research and after reading the effects of soy I have cut it out of my diet completely. I normally woudn't comment but because you are pregnant please read up on soy and it's negative effects on your unborn baby and yourself. Good Luck with the rest of your pregnancy . . . enjoy every moment of it!
Please share with me the negative effects that you read about.
Im lactose intolerant so soy has been in my diet for I'd say close to ten years now. I can only speak for myself but my digestion and skin has never been better. During my pregnancy I regularly checked on my calcium and vitamin levels to make sure that I was in perfect health, which I was and still am. My baby is in perfect health and takes my milk quite easily. So if you wouldnt mind sharing with me what you have found and where you found this information, I'd like to share it with others.
As for me its far too late to not drink soy during my pregnancy as my baby is out and is close to 10 weeks old. But to be brutally honest, I would've kept drinking soy as it is my main source of calcium. Soy has had a positive effect on my health thus far. Plus my calcium intake via the foods I ingest wouldnt have kept my calcium supply at the level that I would have needed.
There has been alot of controversy surrounding the dairy vs soy debate. One major point is that alot of the research on the negative effects of soy products is funded by the Dairy Associations. And why wouldnt they? How much money would they be losing?! It is a multi-million (possibly billion) dollar industry so of course they need to take any competitor down.
But yes soy can have a negative effect on some. Women who are suffering from some forms of cancer, from what I am aware of, are advised to avoid soy products. As for pregnant and breastfeeding women, there hasnt been enough research done on the effects of soy to give an accurate report.
On the other hand, Im not going to be one of those mothers who puts their child onto soy if they dont need to be. He can makes his own choice down the track to go dairy-free if he wishes.
I would assume that its like anything that you include in your diet, that its all about moderation.
