Hi

I am a 39 year old female who has always been active and sporty (gym, cycling and kick boxing).  Unfortunately I fractured my spine and sine this accident have developed an under active thyroid.

I take the levothyroxine that is prescribed by my doctor but I am struggling with weight gain around my middle and fat build up under my skin which gives me a watery look.  I have changed my diet and started training more often with varied activites including cardio and weight training.

How can I get rid of my fat???........  This is starting to depress me???

Any suggestions to assist me would be most appreciated.  Have read a book on eostrogen dominance - not sure if I have this?

Hi
Congratulations on your recovery from your accident and your determination to get back into the active life you love.

It sucks when weightloss isn't going the way you'd hoped. I've been there read all the books and articles and found the more things I tried the worse my situation got. Your body sustained a big hit and it's going to take a while for it to understand it's safe to be lean again. One really great eBook I did pick up was Leigh Peele's fatloss trouble shooter. She really suggest a gentle balanced and back to basics approach starting with rest, clean eating, slowly increasing carbs, stretching and mobility and then gradually back into a balanced sensible program. It's boring as anything but works.

Do you still have any lingering emotions from the accident? You're body will react in a protective manner if your mind still perceives danger. It may be useful to get help. Something like nlp may work really well and quickly.

Just a few ideas.

All the best
Michelle

One thing I would like to add to Michelle's fantastic advice is that the only way you will find out if you have a hormone imbalance and oestrogen dominance will be to take both a blood and saliva test. Hormones are too important for a lean and healthy body for you to just be guessing what levels they are at.

HI, I have hashimoto's disease which is underactive thryoid. I have the same problem that i have a bit of belly fat that I can't get rid of.. I'm cutting out sugar and alcohol, and trying to eat clean... with an underactive thyroid I can put on weight pretty easy as I have a slow metabolism... I don't eat a lot of carbs especially at night and eat more protein.....Glad to hear that your on your way to recovery....
